Which water purification system is best?

I am in India and I would be able to tell you what is available here. Aquaguard and other water purifiers are available in different capacities ranging from a small tumbler to a medium size candle based filters. Since no electricity is involved (if you are camping) either you need a very efficient filter or some chemical or a combination.
