How can I help my jack Russell behave!!?

have a jr 12 months old. if he is chewing something like rawhide or similar he is fine. but if he is not occupied with it he gets jumping searching destroying - cannot leave him unattended fir more than a few minutes. if I tell him off he goes nuts and starts to attack me in what to him seems like a game and won't calm down. he has started having a nip at visitors now. he is neutered, has toys chews, I tried ignoring, pinning down, shakers, spraying with water even a vibration collar, cymbals- all of which make him worse he just goes mental. I use his crate to exclude him in an instant now, but it is still not sinking in. he sits, paws, lies, rolls over and is easy to click train but at least twice a day this mental aggressive streak takes over. I'm at the end if my teather and slapped him hard the other night which clearly doesn't help. can any one help who has had similar experience? incidentally just to save you time- I am not pulling his teeth out, not shooting him, Having read some other answers....
